Calmness

Concept Note:
Shinto shrines are a structure which houses Gods. Their simplistic shape and form yet bold design struck out to me when I had visited Japan in 2017.
I decided to make a scene which showed similar calmness and peace.

The shrine was modelled using simple primitives like cylinder and cube. Using extrusions and proportional editing to move vertices, I was able to create the shape. I created one side and mirrored it onto the other.
As Japan reminds me of MT. Fuji and it has many islands, I decided to make mountains in the background. I generated them with the ANT landscape generator and modified them to my liking.
For the final render, I used mist pass to get a foggy effect and fade out the background into the horizon.
